It all began at a youth field day, where Teresa was running around gleefully pouring water on everyone. Huy noticed her and thought, “Who is this random girl pouring water on everyone?” So, naturally, he decided to get her back on behalf of everyone else. Little did he know, that playful revenge would lead to him getting cupcakes in the face for the next few weeks.

Despite the chaos, the two became great friends. What Teresa didn’t realize was that Huy had started to develop feelings for her. They continued living their lives as friends until one day, Teresa and her friend Joe discovered that they lived surprisingly close to Huy and his friend Khiem.

The four of them began spending a lot of time together—until the boys took a trip to Washington for Joe’s birthday. Teresa stayed home and couldn’t help but notice how much she missed them. Her friend Amy finally pointed out what Teresa hadn’t realized herself: maybe she didn’t miss all the boys—just one in particular.

Not long after, Huy and Teresa volunteered to help with Thieu Nhi Camp. That year, a storm hit the campsite and forced everyone to relocate to the church. Huy and Teresa were assigned to clean up the original campsite together. They spent the day working side by side, bonding, and even sneaking in a little piano lesson—Huy teaching Teresa how to play.

Later that summer, Teresa planned a camping trip with friends that seemed doomed from the start: double-booked campsites, no space to paddleboard, exploding camp stoves, and even a few burns. But one thing did go right—Teresa and Huy spent the entire trip together. That trip became the spark that led to them hanging out one-on-one from then on.

A few weeks later, Huy asked Teresa to go to a water lantern festival “as friends.” Teresa swears it wasn’t a date—but Huy says he was definitely trying to be romantic (and it worked!-Huy).

After a few months of spending more and more time together, the question of making things official started to linger. Teresa was hesitant because of her past, and Huy was nervous—it would be his first time officially asking someone to be his girlfriend. But after a while, Teresa couldn’t wait any longer and started demanding that Huy finally make it official. And so, on September 19, 2019, he did.

Over the years, they learned and grew together through both the highs and the lows. Then came 2025—when Huy and Teresa took a trip to Korea. On April 15th, they spent an action-packed day exploring different cities, visiting the North Tower, writing postcards to each other, and laughing as Teresa devoured the bluest cotton candy imaginable—completely unaware that she was only an hour away from being proposed to.

At Namsangol Hanok Village, in the crisp evening air, Huy tried (and failed) to convince Teresa to take off her coat for pictures. Finally, as they reached the perfect spot, Huy got down on one knee—and Teresa said “YES!”

Even though this is our story, it’s just the beginning. We’re so excited to share our next chapter—and our special day—with all of you.
